About Us

When the world shifted in 2020, so did we. Leaving behind the corporate and service industries, we followed a growing passion—creating unique outdoor spaces for people who find peace in gardening, caring for animals, and reconnecting with nature. We wanted to build places of calm and comfort for others—a sanctuary from the noise and weight of the world.

We first met at 19 and 20, and have been adventuring ever since—traveling, connecting with incredible people, and learning through hands-on experiences. Our journey has taken us deep into the roots of craftsmanship and the cultural traditions that shape them.

I’m Tyler, and my love for architectural design began in high school. But it wasn’t until we bought our first home that I found my true niche. I’ve drawn inspiration from shipbuilders along the Ganges in Varanasi, India—crafting water homes with their hands and the simplest tools—from extravagant Victorian greenhouses in England, and the ever-evolving history of home and garden design. Medieval and Colonial-era craftsmanship has also left a lasting impression on me, particularly in how creativity and practicality came together when tools and technologies were limited.

Brittni graduated from North Carolina State University in 2014 and spent several years working in the nonprofit sector, where her heart for community, education, and meaningful impact on the lives of others took center stage. Her passion for purpose-driven work continues to shape everything we build together—from the spaces we design to the values behind our small business.

Our home became more than just a place to live—it became a workshop for purpose-driven projects. My first creation? A chicken coop for our very first flock, built under the shade of our pine, pear, and dogwood trees during a freezing February. Constructed from reclaimed pallets, that coop was more than just shelter for chickens—it was the beginning of something much bigger.

Chickens have always held a special place in our lives. Brittni’s late mom, an elementary school teacher, brought the magic of yearly chick hatchings into her classroom—something that sparked wonder and joy in all of us, year after year.

Today, and together, through our small business, Three Trees & A Coop, we aim to inspire others to slow down, build sustainably, and create beautiful backyard sanctuaries of their own. Whether it’s for chickens, gardening, or simply enjoying a quieter space, we believe everyone deserves a place that brings them peace and purpose.
